Sturgeon

Northwest Fishing Expeditions offers two types of Sturgeon trips. We have a Catch and Release trip out of Heller Bar on the Snake River. This is our Hells Canyon Gateway trip and our most popular fishery, with break taking views of rock cliffs shooting straight out of the river, Mule Deer, Elk, Big Horn Sheep, and even a Black Bear or two. We are catching White Sturgeon in a range of 4-10 feet in length. With the chance of landing a 12 footer or even larger. (Trophy Sturgeon!!!!!)hells canyon

Our second trip is a Catch and Keeps trip are on the Columbia River below John Day Dam as well as Kettle Falls / Lake Roosevelt. This trip is great for those who are wanting to take home some great eating Sturgeon. If you like Halibut you will love these guys. The Daily Bag Limit is 1 fish, with a season limit of 2. Keeper size is a slot limit between 43” to 54” in length.

Sturgeon trips are excellent for all ages! Bring the Family, Friends, or your Business associates as a thank you or perk. They wont forget this trip!

Sturgeon are the largest freshwater fish in North America and can weigh upwards of 600 pounds, reaching lengths of more than 12 feet. These prehistoric fish can live up to 100 years old. It takes a female sturgeon up to 20 years to become reproductively mature allowing her to spawn. The Snake River Sturgeon is a special fish that has adapted to being landlocked. Before the Snake River and Columbia River Dams were built, these magnificent fish would migrate to and from the Pacific Ocean to feed and spawn. Now they live their lives between the dams feeding and reproducing. These fish are amazing in how they can adapt and prosper!
